This lovely 2 ply yarn was spun from a handcarded BFL, merino, bamboo, angelina batt.

Yarn is a single ply then plied with a blue thread.

The Bluefaced Leicester is known for its exceptional fleece. BFL is classified as a longwool breed because of the way their locks of wool are formed. Its fleece is in high demand from handspinners and fiber artists because of its “next to the skin” softness and lustrous shine. These qualities produce a yarn that has excellent drape, and is very soft and squishy. Of the three types of Leicesters, the Bluefaced produces the finest fleece, with a micron count of 24-28 microns.

Merino sheep are hardy and thrive in environments which are much too harsh for other domesticated sheep breeds. They are well suited to the high altitudes and mountainous landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island high country, where temperatures can range from 95°F in summer to 5°F in winter. Merino is a breed of sheep famous for its fine, soft wool, and is the "gold standard" to which all other fibers are compared.
